X-Mas Card Workshop & Competition

I recently ran a X-Mas Card workshop and held a mini competition to introduce digital art to children out there. The response was great and we have a little above 30 students joining in the workshop and competition. The competition grand prize is a brand new Wacom Bamoo Pen! The workshop is a 4 x 1.5 hours lesson over 4 weeks. This class focuses on how to design a simple yet effective Christmas card which skill-sets are geared towards digital drawing and graphic design. The judges have really a hard time to decide who is going to be the winner as all of the works are really awesome. In the end, the judges decided to award Jia Yi  to be the champion. Congratulations Jia Yi! His winning piece can be seen below:

Student Improvements!

We are proud to showcase 2 student’s work to illustrate the huge improvement from the first lesson. Scroll down to take a look!

PROGRESS KARTI
From her first drawing (from left to right), you can see how Kar Ti(6+ years old) improved tremendous with the help of the teacher. She actually didn’t really like drawing but because of our course uses the computer, it got her interested. Her first drawing which is the owl is something that she struggled to do with, however you can see that she actually gained confidence in her drawing abilities. From ‘I don’t like drawing’ to ‘wow, what I did, I kind of like it’. She  even designed a character! (Its the 2nd last drawing, the bear; simple but effective).
PROGRESS-YANTING
Our second spotlight student, Yan Ting (5+ years old) love drawing a lot but has a very short attention span in the first few classes. She always wanted to draw and colour finish her works and get it done and over with. This changes slowly as she herself can see her own improvements and started to devote more time on her artwork. Her final artwork (the Minion) took her 3 hours to complete, even though I had to stay back for an extra 1.5 hours, I think it’s worth it to see how far she has come. A really happy and thrilling moment for me and her Mom!

Digital Art Classes actually trained the student’s confidence not only in drawing but in every thing that are around them. Usually the teacher would put some hard drawings that the students think that they cannot achieve in a short 1.5 hours time frame. When they achieve one artwork which they initially thought was close to impossible, their confidence then rises. We like to condition our students to think like as long as they try, they can achieve what they thought couldn’t, and sometimes even surprising themselves. We believe in the idea that “It is not how good you are but how good you want to be.”

Our Laptops & Tablets

The laptops that we used are chosen for its reliability and performance for digital art. These laptops are the slim type, light and boots up in a couple of minutes which means they are really easy to set up!

Each set of the digital art drawing set includes the Laptop (HP Pavillion 14-b005AU), the laptop’s power cable, Wacom Bamboo Pen, USB connector for tablet. The laptop comes installed with Photoshop.

I’ll just need one power point available to connect all 8 laptops and get it ready for the digital art class.

I am also an official reseller of Wacom Products, so if the parents do want to get a hold of the tablet, they can get it at a cheaper price that is bundled together with the courses themselves.
